Amina Schmahl and Safietou "Jazz" Schmahl, the twins that make up R&B group Black Buddafly were born in Hamburg, Germany. They were born to a German mother who also happened to sing, and a Senegalese father who was a semi-professional Jazz musician. At just six years old, the girls began singing in church and musicals in school. In their teenage years, they started touring and recording sessions in small local studios in Germany. Being surrounded by music throughout their lives, the girls decided to start a singing group in 1998 along with older sister, Sophie Schmahl. "Choyce" started picking up attention in Europe and soon were given a record deal with BMG Germany. While happy of course with the achievements and new gained success, the sisters still felt something was missing. America. In 2002, the three sisters came to America with a Dream and $600. Choyce continued creating buzz by performing in showcases and meeting with new producers and managers. Waiting for the best deal to come around, the girls went back home to tour and make more money. Returning a few months after with a new name, Black Buddafly soon signed with Russell Simmons Music Group.

In 2005, Black Buddafly began recording their debut album and released two singles. "Rock-A-Bye" and "Bad Girl" with Fabolous which was featured on the "Waist Deep" soundtrack that starred Tyrese Gibson and Meagan Good. After recording videos and going on tours for both singles, the ladies received several album push backs and decided to part ways with Def Jam. Sophie moved back to Germany, while Jazz and Amina decided to continue recording with their soulful harmonies and make more incredible music! With talents far and wide, writing their own music, Amina playing piano and being able to engineer their own sessions, the ladies later appeared on "Hey Mr. Lover" featuring Red Cafe and then signed with MBK Entertainment Inc, home of Alicia Keys. Expect an album soon from these talented beauties who definitely deserve their time to shine! It's 2009, and time for new faces of R&B !
